Hello...
My name is Travis W. Inman. Thank you for stopping to review my life. I’ll try to make the effort worth your trouble.
I grew up in the ranch country of West Texas and worked as a cowboy until I graduated from High School and left home for college. I graduated from seminary in Dallas, Texas, and served a year in the mission field in Haiti, Mexico, and South America. Perhaps one day I will reflect on my adventures overseas and post my thoughts on the web site. After a series of unfortunate events, I returned home from Guadalajara, Mexico and married Sarah, my wife of 14 years.
We have two children ages 9 and 5. I will take time to post the unbelievable, and I do mean unbelievable, story of our children’s harrowing arrival into the world. I think it’s a story that will bless you.
Over the years, I have struggled to find my place in the world. I truly thought I was intended to be a missionary on a foreign field, but God repeatedly redirected my steps. I would be honored to one day return to full time mission work, but I have learned to wait for God’s absolutely perfect plan for my life. Since I graduated from seminary, I worked as a taco maker at a Taco Bueno in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, worked as a clerk in a department store, dug ditches in the oil field, worked as a correctional officer, sold real estate, enlisted in the Army (I will also post more of that story at a later date), returned to real estate, dabbled in new home construction, worked as a researcher for the Scurry County Museum, joined the Immigration and Naturalization Service as a field agent, and later became an instructor with a law enforcement training center. While I served in the Army, I overcame a devastating hip injury and was able to walk again despite the odds. See? I told you it was an interesting story!
Writing is a life-long passion. I realized that I had a knack for story telling when I wrote a short story in Junior High in my English Lit. Class about a soldier facing insurmountable odds while defending a hill in France during WWII. Through my teenage years, I won a few contests and awards for my poetry and short stories. Later, in my college days, I contributed to various newspapers and publications. I even managed to publish a few small items on internet sites that no longer exist. My writing includes children’s literature, action adventure, short stories, one act plays, and love stories. I absolutely love writing short stories, which is handy, as my attention-deficit disorder lends tremendously toward brevity.
I never would have imagined that I would be a romance writer, since my story lines usually delve into awkward and unpopular themes. Nevertheless, I took a stab at what I thought might be an uplifting story, and When Love Calls met with success. No one was more surprised than I. If you enjoy When Love Calls, you will probably appreciate the much anticipated sequel, Love’s Determined Grace (a working title), which follows Caton and Lilly for a few more years, while allowing Mariah to develop as a character herself. I’ll focus on Jane in depth, and add some interesting back ground to Mrs. Davis. It’s a story I think you will find compelling and meaningful. If all goes well with the sequel, I might add a third story to the line. It depends a lot on how you react to my stories!
We currently live in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where for the last four years we have been active members of Blodgett Street Baptist Church. We also enjoy home schooling our children. Gasp! If we survive the home schooling experience, I might post a story about that—provided my hands stop shaking long enough to type a few words onto my computer screen. Thank you for your interest in who I am. I would love to hear from you. Email me at traviswinman@yahoo.com if you have any thoughts you would like to share with me, or if you would like information on how to obtain an autographed copy of my book. |
